Last Saturday, October 19th, Odigo Wellness officially opened its doors to the Uptown community with an amazing grand opening event. The wellness center, dedicated to promoting health equity and creating a trauma-informed space, welcomed attendees with free wellness treatments and an inviting atmosphere. Throughout the day, the open house buzzed with excitement as community members explored the center’s offerings, from yoga classes to acupuncture and reiki. The highlight of the day was the ribbon-cutting ceremony, where Odigo’s founders and practitioners celebrated this important milestone alongside community members. Odigo’s mission to foster connection, joy, and healing was on full display, making the launch a true celebration of the local community.
The center’s light blue exterior, a calming and welcoming color, set the tone for what visitors found inside–spaces designed to soothe and comfort. As part of the grand opening, Odigo offered attendees a variety of free treatments, reflecting the center’s holistic and inclusive approach to care. Visitors could participate in yoga classes, experience acupuncture, reiki, chair massages, and functional medicine consultations. These offerings demonstrated Odigo’s commitment to accessible and high-quality wellness services for the community. Many community members took the opportunity to try these different treatments, and the open house provided a firsthand look at the range of services available. Odigo’s diverse offerings cater to various wellness needs, ensuring that everyone–from those seeking physical care to emotional support–feels welcome and included.
“Absolutely none of this would have been possible without the tremendous support of our community. Nada de esto hubiera sido posible sin el gran apoyo de nuestra comunidad.”
– Marakah Mancini de León, Director of Cooperative Strategy & Co-Owner
The ribbon cutting ceremony marked a key moment in Odigo Wellness’s journey, symbolizing the culmination of months of hard work and community support. Founders, practitioners, and community members gathered to celebrate this new chapter. In her speech, Marakah Mancini de León highlighted the center’s unique mission, emphasizing the diverse ownership team and their hope to expand it further. “What we know we can do is provide the highest-quality care in a highly-integrated way, by practitioners who are diverse in both their work experience and their life experience,” she said. This vision of inclusivity and health equity is at the heart of Odigo’s mission, and the grand opening embodied that commitment.
As the event came to a close, it was evident that Odigo Wellness’s grand opening is not just about launching a wellness center, but about becoming part of the larger community effort to revitalize Uptown. Mancini de León spoke to this vision, stating, “We are so pleased to be part of the Uptown renaissance with you all. This is our community, and our community is still growing.” This message of growth and renewal resonated deeply with community members and leaders, many of whom have seen the neighborhood’s revitalization firsthand.
Odigo Wellness stands as a beacon for this resurgence, providing a space where community members can come together for healing, connection, and support. As Uptown continues to rebuild and thrive, Odigo’s commitment to inclusivity, health equity, and community-centered care will be an integral part of its future. This grand opening was more than a celebration; it was a testament to the power of collective effort and hope for a brighter, healthier Uptown. As Uptown recovers from the challenges of recent years, this moment serves as a crucial step in restoring the area’s identity as a cultural hub and economic pillar for the community.
